Une présentation de l'IÉAM

Lundi 16 octobre à 11 h 30
Pavillon Charles-De Koninck, salle 5242 Conférencier : Peter Toohey, University of Calgary (CAC Tour) Résumé de la séance : This talk will attempt to illustrate the most common ways that melancholia or depression has been shown in Western art. I will begin with Albrecht Dürer and his Melencolia 1 (1514) and then turn to modern representations of the condition. I’ll attempt to show how the visualization of depression or melancholia, with the exclusion of Durer’s additions to image, remain remarkably steady from modern times all the way back to antiquity.
