Explore 2024: 5-week intensive French immersion

L’Université Laval is the first French university in North America. Our campus environement provides a stimulating and inspirational setting for your studies.

This page is only for the Explore students directly contacted by us, do not follow these steps if we did not contact you with the confirmation that you were chosen to participate in the Explore program at l'Université Laval. 

Registration procedures

Before registering

Do not do these procedures if you have not received a message of confirmation from our part stating that you were chosen by the Explore program to attend l'Université Laval.

 

Via Rail Discount

With the Via Rail Discount, you can save money by taking the train to Université Laval to attend your program.

Summer part 1 2024 (May 13 - June 15)

Required documents

You must send all the necessary documents in a single email.
Documents sent by regular mail or by fax are not accepted.

If you are taking part in the Summer part 1, please send your documents to: spring-explore@elul.ulaval.ca 

Some documents may require a signature. They can be signed electronically (digital PDF secured) or handwritten. In the case of a handwritten signature, you must print the document, sign it and scan it in PDF format.

*For permanent citizens and Canadian candidates born outside of Canada, send a proof of citizenship or permanent residency using one of these documents:

  • your permanent residence card (copy of the back and the front);
  • your Canadian citizenship card or certificate (copy of the back and the front);
  • the IMM-1000 form (Record of landing) or an official certified copy.
Special needs

If you have a condition requiring special treatment (e.g. learning disabilities, blindness, wheelchair access, etc.), please make sure the special needs form is thoroughly filled so that we can verify the availability of the appropriate services.

Summer part 2 2024 (July 8 - August 10)

Payment Required

For your registration to be processed and your place to be reserved, please pay the non-refundable registration fee: $275,00 CAD.

How to create an UL password (PIN) (PDF)
With you IDUL and your UL password (PIN) you have access to monportail.ulaval.ca et and you can generate your student card.

How to obtain your student card (PDF)
You will receive a notification on monPortail or on your @ulaval.ca email address inviting you to submit a photo for your digital UL student card.

Go on monportail.ulaval.ca to complete the process. We recommend you download the application.

Policies on absences and schedule conflicts related to exams 

Students who cannot be present for their mid-semester exam or their final exam must submit a postponement request to the French as a second language academic advisor as soon as they are aware of their inability to be present at their exam.

Workshops

We are offering three types of activities: mandatory workshops, optional activities, and special activities for an additional fee.

Mandatory workshop

Every student must participate to two workshops per week: one themed workshop and another of their choice. Every activity last between 1:30 and 2 hours.

Registration: proceed to your registration between March 1st and the first Monday of the semester.

Special activities ($)

The special activities* are trips and activities for which you will need to pay an additional fee or make a deposit. These activities are offered in the evenings and on Saturday.

*Limited tickets available. No refund or exchange.

Optional activities

These activities, offered from Monday to Friday, are the perfect opportunity to speak French, to do sport and to discover Quebec City and its culture. Museum visits, cooking, volleyball, guided tours in Quebec City, soccer, etc. We are offering more than 70 activities per semester!
