French as a Second or Foreign Language

With more than 200 million speakers on 5 continents, French is the foreign language that we learn most often after English. The study of French not only allows you to discover a rich cultural universe, especially in the fields of arts, science and architecture, but is also an asset for anyone considering an international career.

Workshops and tutoring

Workshops

The animation service offers multiple activities to help you practice what you have learned in class.

Intensive courses (5-week)

Mandatory workshops

During each summer session, students must participate in two workshops per week: one thematic workshop and one workshop chosen online. Each workshop lasts between 1 ½ and 2 hours. 

Workshop registration

  • Summer session 1 (May 11 to June 12), register between March 1 and Mai 11 at 12 PM.
  • Summer session 2 (July 6 to August 7), register between Mai 18 and July 6 at 12 PM.

Optional sociocultural activities

We offer more than 70 free activities and workshops per summer session. These optional activities are great opportunities to practise your French, enjoy some physical activity, and discover Québec culture.

In addition to the free optional activities, we also offer excursions and other special activities that require an additional charge or a deposit.

Club des maîtres (27 years of age or older)

On top of the regular activities offered, students of 27 or older are invited to join to some activities specially organised for them.

These evenings are the perfect occasions to exchange with other older students about your varied origins and experiences.

Examples of activities: wine and cheese, barbecue, outdoor shows, picnic.

Regular courses (15-week)

Conversation activities

In small teams, your will be able to express yourself on multiple subjects. These activities are perfect to learn new vocabulary and be more confident. 

These activities are adapted to all French levels.

Cultural activities

Every Wednesday, an activity to discover Québec, its culture and its sports is offered.

Museum visit, cooking, movies, volleyball match, guided tours around Québec… More than 12 different activities per session!

Special activities

These activities, available for a fee, are offered on Friday afternoon or Saturday.

They are offered for a low cost and are reserved for the French as a foreign language students.

Exemples of activities

Fall session: Hikes, sugar shack, promenade fantôme, watching a hockey game, wine and Québec cheeses, snowshoes.

Winter session: Hôtel de glace, snow slide, Carnaval de Québec, ice fishing, Montmorency Falls, traditional meals.
